GAN CHAMAH Projects

Gan Chamah’s new project “Jewish –Russian Choir” was started in September 2009. The partners of the project are of ANNE FRANK-Fonds, CHAMAH Fund and Moscow Department of Education. The purpose of the project is to provide Gan Chamah’s schoolchildren and children, who study at Moscow Music school ¹ 105, with music education and choir singing in a united choir of two schools. 22 Jewish children from Gan Chamah school and 30 children from Musical school - children of different nationalities - Georgian, Ukrainian, Russian, Chechen, Azerbaijan, Tadjikistan, Jewish etc. - work jointly to get professional musical education, learn languages. There are songs in Russian, Hebrew and Yiddish in the repertoire of the choir . Also children have lessons on piano, flute, accordion, violin and guitar and music studies (solfeggio). The lessons are conducted three times per week during the school year. Our choir has already taken part in Moscow Festival in November (“Severnoye sozvezdiye”), at school concerts (September – December) and at the concerts for the parents and veterans of CHAMAH. The end of the project is May, 2010.

Equal opportunity for disabled children

Our work with disabled children is carried out since 2002 at the GAN CHAMAH school. Thanks to support from the Moscow Municipality and various international sponsors during 2004 -2005 we were able to serve 50 nedy children in this project. These children were provided with several services and programs, such as:

•  Home learning
•  Supplemental classes ( Math, computer, Hebrew, Jewish tradition, swimming)
•  Individual lessons (psychologist, speech therapist, massage therapist, special education)
•  Transportation to GAN CHAMAH
•  Medical equipment and medcine
•  Special food and clothing 

Sunday School

The Sunday Family club was organized in 1993 with the assistance of JDC and its purpose is to involve children and their parents in the life of Jewish community. Children study and play together with their parents in organized activities, participate in field trips and celebrate Jewish holidays.

Children's SOS Fund

The purpose of this program is to help Jewish children until age 18 who live in the countries of the former Soviet Union and need urgent assiatnce. In 2004, the Children's SOS Fund helped many children from GAN CHAMAH with over 278,000 rubles in assistance.

Shabbatonim. Jewish literature.

Three Shabbatonim became favorite after school activities in GAN CHAMAH school. They are organized in the countryside at Pushkino rest home for children and their parents. Celebration of Shabbat - Kabbalat Shabbat - takes an important place in Jewish Tradition. In 2006 -2007 school year we are planning to organize two more shabbatonim for children with special needs, who participate in the work of our Sunday School and additional programs of Jewish education.

School Film Studio “Panas Kesem” – children, Parents Committee of GAN CHAMAH school, teachers organize this program/with the framework of the project “Initiative”.
